PigDog Pedals Review - In the vibrant world of guitar effects, PigDog Pedals stands out as a beacon of creativity and craftsmanship. Based in the UK, this boutique pedal builder has gained a reputation for producing high-quality, hand-crafted pedals that cater to musicians seeking unique sounds and reliable performance. They tend to be created using NOS transistors and wired on tag board. PigDog specialises in producing classic fuzz in modern enclosures often with just a few little tweaks to being them up to date. At the helm of PigDog is Steve Williams, a passionate builder and guitarist whose dedication to his craft shines through in every pedal.

First, here's a general summary of just a few of the PigDog pedals, and then I've added in the video of my own Universal Remote and Juju, so you can hear them for yourself.

PigDog Pedals Review

PigDog Pedals offers a range of innovative pedals that cater to diverse musical styles. Here’s a closer look at some of their standout products:

  • Universal Remote: The Universal Remote is a killer fuzz based on the Baldwin Burnes BuzzAround circuit but with some modern tweaks to improve the performance - eg the noise floor. This pedal covers just about all the ground you could want from a fuzz, with the tone control being noticeably powerful.

  • Juju: The Juju pedal is a fuzz pedal designed as a small enclosure Tone Bender MkIII. So full on, balls to the wall FUZZ. The Filter Control is massively powerful when tone shaping, much like in the Universal Remote, but is a filter sweep. The transistors are NOS 1960's CV5712s and an OC75. A monster of a fuzz that will NOT apologise for its huge tone.

  • Kxon: Inspired by the legendary Klon Centaur, the PigDog take on this classic overdrive effect just looks stunning. However, I've never been lucky enough to see or hear one in the flesh as they were produced in very limited numbers. Check out the orinigal info here: https://www.pigdogpedals.com/product/kxon/

  • Electric Eye: The Electric Eye pedal is based on the Mk I Tone Bender. It has two controls, level and attack and can go from spitty to smooth and over the top. Again a classic brought into the modern age with NOS parts and perfect attention to detail.

Here's a video of my personal PigDog Fuzz Pedals. I am definitely keeping my eyes open for more, so if time and money somehow align, I will make more videos of these stunning pedals.
